Propane: The Road to America's Energy Future...Today

Propane Road Show

KYPERC's Road Show was a hit!!!

Day 1 was in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Many thanks to Daniel Towns with Allen County Farmers Service who helped connect us with Allen County Public Schools. They brought a brand new propane bus for us to display with our propane powered lawn mower, police car and pickup truck. Officials from Butler County Public Schools came and saw the bus.  They spoke with the driver and Director of Transportation from Allen County and made arrangements to see their fueling station. The folks from Butler County were very impressed with what they heard and will very likely purchase propane buses in the near future. Elected officials from Warren County came to look at the propane equipment and ask questions.

Day 2 was in Alexandria. We had a lot of action with Campbell County and they love their propane school buses. Elected officials from Boone County had questions about the propane police and first responder vehicles. Boone County Councilman Jesse Brewer said that the use of propane vehicles in their county fleet is something he would like Boone County Fiscal Court to explore.  The school district already shares it's gasoline and diesel fueling station with the county and it would be an easy step to add propane fueling to the agreement. Campbell County is planning to work with KYPERC in the new year to host a meeting with area first responders and local officials to learn about propane and its safe uses.

On Day 3 we were hosted by the University of Louisville at the University of Louisville Physical Plant Department. U of L displayed their propane mowers alongside KYPERC's equipment. They allowed visitors to tour their facility and see where they store and maintain their propane mowers. U of L has been mowing exclusively with propane for over 15 years. Some of their mowers are now 15 years old and still running strong. Bullitt County Public Schools came and displayed one of their new propane school buses. U of L facility and staff, officials from Louisville Metro Government, and members of the KY General Assembly from Louisville came and examined the equipment. State Rep. Daniel Grossberg of Louisville took a ride in the KYPERC police car and was very impressed. After the event Rep. Grossberg personally reached out to Jefferson County Public Schools and strongly encouraged them to explore propane for their school bus fleet and mowing operation.

Day 4 was in Lexington. KYPERC displayed our propane police car, pickup truck and lawnmower at Jacobson Park, alongside a propane school bus from neighboring Bourbon County. Mayor Linda Gorton and her Chief of Staff Tyler Scott came and asked questions about incorporating propane in their metropolitan mowing operation. Mayor Gorton was also very impressed with the propane police vehicle and pickup truck and was amazed at how clean and quiet operation of the propane school bus was. Mayor Gorton told KYPERC staff that she would love to have KYPERC come and speak to the Lexington Parks Department about utilizing propane. This event was covered by the local media.

Consumer Information

What is Propane?
For over 100 years propane has been warming and powering America.  Now one of the most widely used fuels in the world, learn all about it.

Tankless Water Heaters
Water heating is one of the biggest users of energy.  Tankless water heaters only work "on demand."  If no hot water is called for, the unit is not burning fuel.  When hot water is called for, the unit immediately begins to supply a nearly endless supply.  These units can be used in residences and, by staging multiple units, in commercial applications as well.  But how do they work?  Click the link to find out how.

Video Library
The video library contains a number of short video assets for consumer information and for marketers to use when talking to potential customers.
