In 1910, when Dr. Snelling discovered propane, I doubt that he could imagine the industry we have today. Those first few vapors wafting from a gasoline tank pioneered a fuel source that now exceeds 15 billion gallons per year in the United States alone. From its early stages as a cutting fuel and a source of heat for cooking, propane now has a place in over 8 million homes and is a mainstay in agriculture and industry as a clean burning and efficient fuel.
The Propane Education and Research Council or PERC and the Kentucky Propane Education and Research Council or KYPERC were formed to ensure that propane continues to grow in a safe and innovative manner. New avenues to expand the use of propane are investigated every day. Because of its low emissions and abundant supply in the United States, advances are now taking place in the use of propane as a motor fuel for trucks and automobiles, as well as lawn mowers and other outdoor equipment. PERC and KYPERC are spearheading the research funding for the propane industry not only to expand but to expand in a safe manner with trained industry employees and an informed public.
Please remember that KPERC works for the propane industry and the public in general. We are here to serve you. Thank you for allowing us to do so
